Cost Engineer

Department : Commercial & Projects Control
Section : Project Control
Job Location : Al - Khobar, Saudi Arabia


1. Work Performed:

a. Maintains up to date and accurate cost control reports comparing actual quantities, man-hours and cost data with planned.
 

b. Monitor the PMSC cost control procedures and reports at an executive level to ensure that they are conforming with approved budgets and procedures.
 

c. Verifies commitments and cash flows submitted by the PMSC and others, and forward to Maaden Corporate Finance in a timely approved formats.
 

d. Ensure coordination and reporting of deviations and changes to contracts and keep detailed and up to date logs of trends and approved change orders.
 

e. Interface with Department’s contracts, Planning and Accounting sections to maintain the coordinated view from the Department.
 

f. Prepare cost reports, information and presentations as required.
 

g. Inform superior of any deviations from plan.



 

2. Work Contacts:
 

Periodic contacts with immediate superior. Frequent contacts at various levels within the Phosphate Project and Ma’aden, and with his counterpart in the PMSC organization.


 

3. Independence of Operation:

 

Carry out tasks in accordance with general guidelines and established policies and professional standards. Will carry out duties with minimum daily supervision from superior. Completed assignments are subject to subsequent review.

 

4. Supervisory Responsibility:
None

 

5. Physical Effort:
 

Minimal.

 

6. Work Environment:
Normally air-conditioned office environment.


7. Minimum Requirements:
 

· University Degree
 

· 10 years solid experience in carrying out cost engineer functions and responsibilities on large scale industrial projects
 

· Good command of English.
 

· Extensive computer skills in using Microsoft software (Word, Excell, Powerpoint, etc.) with additional knowledge of industry cost control software


 

8. Key Personal Qualities:

· Task and outcome focused
 

· Accurate and timely work habits
 

· Good balance of project summary overview, and of detailed involvement when required.
 

· Self starter with minimal supervision for routine activities.
